About Us

IDEAS FOR GOOD™

Backstory

Founded in 2012, ID8 grew from Lemonade Alley, a lemonade stand contest, into a Hawaii-based 501(C)(3) education nonprofit specializing in entrepreneurship, project-based learning, design-thinking, information technology and digital media production.

In 2021, ID8 was tapped by the State of Hawai’i to create a TV and film studio, dubbed “ID8 Studios” at the Entrepreneurʻs Sandbox in Kaka’ako. After completing and operating the studio for three years, ID8 passed the studio back to the State in order to concentrate on “Shaka, A Story of Aloha,” a feature length documentary on the Shaka gesture.

Today, ID8 is largely centered around Project Shaka, a movement to share Aloha through the Shaka.

EXPERTISE

We seek to empower a world of ideas and expressions that create positive impacts. For us, this means inspiring, bringing hope and uniting people to share happiness, fulfillment and aloha. To these ends, we have developed combined expertise in the following:

We champion all people, particularly under-served youth, to discover their unique strengths and the confidence to proactivity engage in making interests and dreams into reality. We seek to empower all people irrespective of ethnic origin, gender, socio-economic, life circumstance or any other factor. See our Diversity Plan »

Key education expertise employed in our programs include STEM/STEAM, Project-Based Learning, Social-Emotional Learning, Hawaii’s HA-BREATH, Learning Management Systems and Soft Skills development and assessment.

We champion creativity, including the arts of inspiration, innovation, design-thinking, communication arts and entrepreneurship to turn ideas into action. “Innovation” and “entrepreneurship” to us means creating market-ready outcomes that yield measurable value.

We’re known for story-based design thinking, project-based learning and “hackathons” (innovation challenge events) that include leadership, team-building, collaboration, business modeling, financial forecasting, branding, goal setting and more. See our Programs »

We foster visioning of social venture enterprises that are economically sustainable, yet strive for true legacy as social ventures that help society beyond mere productization and profit.

Our nonprofit is unique in that it highly technically modern and adept. We have also received millions in grant funding support to develop technical programs and products.

This is possible as our founder is a technologists who donates service and license support from his for-profit technology firm. We take great care to ensure that benefits flow only from the for-profit to ID8 and never the obverse.

From the ChairPERSON

Do You Like Big Ideas?

At ID8 (ide•ate) we love big ideas. So we seek ideators that swing for the fences. Ideators with big hearts and big minds who can pull off the seemingly impossible. Ideators of high ideals and high energy who live positive values and pass such values on to others. Sponsor and donor ideators who have the bandwidth to provide resources to scale growth. Volunteer ideators who think it forward when implementing programs. Partnering ideators with related missions and who see value in creating solutions together. And of course, next-generation ideators ready to carry ideation into the future.

Wherever we can, with whomever we can, we seek to leverage ideation and expression skills for the betterment of all. Because we all have limited time on the planet, so why not spend it doing the most while things possible at the biggest scale possible. So if you have a good idea, please Contact Us »

Good news! If you’ve read this far, you clearly have ideation DNA. So on behalf of ID8, I salute you for having the heart and mind to make the world a better place. Letʻs go fix things together.

With aloha,

Steve Sue, Chief lemon Head | Bizgenics Foundation
